Stampede當地時間周日凌晨，韓國首爾當局表示，周六晚上在韓國首都首爾梨泰院萬圣節集會期間發生一起重大踩踏事故，
韓國首爾警察廳當地時間10月30日晚間通報，29日晚梨泰院踩踏事故中的死亡人數已升至154人，另有130多人受傷 。
報道還稱，死亡者中女性為98人，男性為56人 。其中外國人死亡人數為26人 。這是自2014年“世越”號客輪沉沒事故發生以來，韓國發生的最嚴重的公共安全事故 。
此前韓國消防部門通報稱，有153人在事故中死亡，外籍死者有20人，與警方掌握的信息略有不同 。

據韓國警方透露，發生踩踏事故的小巷是一個寬約3.2米，長約45米左右的斜坡，事故發生時，整條小巷都擠滿了人 。發生踩踏事故的部分是其中大約長5.7米的一段，當時這大約18平方米的空間里有300多人，本次事故的死傷者都是在這一段當中 。
根據踩踏事故幸存者和目擊者描述，在事故發生時，現場人流非常密集，曾聽到有人說“推”，還有人說“我們這邊更用力推” 。之后就出現了人群因站在斜坡上而如多米諾骨牌般倒下的情況 。密集的人群層層倒下，被壓在下面的人們根本無法動彈，最終釀成了慘劇 。
